Home Handwashing Station

Select a Location

Select a location in your home that:

  • has a sink
  • is closest to the door most people enter 
  • easiest room to enter without touching anything

Post Handwashing Instructions

  • in a plastic sleeve to protect from splashes
  • in plain view

Posters & Video Instructions

Soap 

  • Any lathering hand soap will do.
  • You may find a pump more convenient and less messy.

Single-Use Towels

  • To minimize contact events with other 
  • Paper towels 
    -OR-
  • Washcloths to use only once per washing event

Non-Latex Gloves

NOTE: These are only necessary if:

  • you are in close contact with an ill person or 
  • are ill yourself and are attempting to avoid contaminating other areas of your home

Covered Laundry Pail - OR- Wastebasket

  • for convenient disposal
  • covered: so you don't accidentally drop something inside until it's time to launder or dispose
  • wastebasket: for disposal of paper towels
  • laundry pail: for dirty cloths to be laundered later
A pail you can operate with a foot pedal would be IDEAL.
